He got some money though, and bought himself a house in Hebrides, close to Jura and succumbed to the TB relapse there. They carried him back in a strecher.
O, I forgot, all other lefties (except for few friends like Koestner)*hated* him for writing such an insensitive book about soviet revolution. He had even hard time to find a publisher, for more than a year.
