if i were you, i would read homage to catalonia, in this book, which is orwells account of the spanish civil war and revolution.
orwell confesses his hatred for rats, there rats etc.

he alsdo points out that the once revolutionary barcelona, after being away at the front for a few months, had sure enough asserted itself back to the bourguise structure ofcontrol. much like the equlibrium goldstein talks of.

also, i think you might be intrested to read about anarchism, a good place to start is alaxander berknmans ABC of anarchism.
or malatesta's anarchy.

although these books arn't about orwell, anarchism is the war against not just authoratarian and totalatarian government but against ALL forms of oppression.
(take into account that malatasta's anarchy was written 100 years ago)

and if you are intrested in learning about the specacle the we live in, read marx until you have an understanding and then read some guy debord, i recommend society of the spectacle.
