One of the main reason for death of ideal soviet socialism was weakness of human flesh. If the pigs would have had truly collective mind for socialism it could have worked out.
I quess it leads us to the origin of humans. Basic emotions like how you experience yourself in your surrounding world have developed in centuries. Therefore it's perhaps impossible to change individual society into collective one in just couple generations.
There's nothing more beautiful than utopia of ideal social society. I don't think we'll ever fully reach it but I wan't to believe we'll get close to it.
