They were decieved in many ways, I will list as many as I can remember.

The pigs get most of the apples and all of the milk.

They change the commandments to there standards.

They sell Boxer to be slain but tell the animals he died in a hospital and was quite happy.

They repeatedly are lied to.

They are told at the end of the book by the pigs that all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others. Which I think is not true.
