You know the books have points(some are hidden and some are visible)or just want to be entertaining. 1984's visible point is that totaliarism is bad, hidden is how you can't fight aggainst it all by yourself.
Now the common things with 1984 and our today are that we're in the prison of our personality(as we outcasts like to say), that we're not accepted by the world we live in, that everyone looks, talks and thinks the same and we don't want to take part of it.
Oh, and Orwell talks about the political,administrative and incompatible side of it, but now we talk about the personal side.
