Read your definitions of utopias and distopias...this is an easy essay to write. the most obvious point in the entire story. It absolutely screams DISTOPIA!! Just because Winston is there doesn't make it a distopia...without winston it is still a distopia. Look at the number of people he encountered in the ministry of love. If this was even close to a utopian society then that ministry would not even exist, much less have the high number of people taken there.
