If you liked 1984 Mallory you should read Homage to catalonia
which is a book about the Spanish civil War/revolution in which Orwell went
to fight in late 1936 under the POUM militia and returned to Britain
after he got shot in the neck and miraculously survived. Its a great first hand acount from
one of the greatest workers uprisings this century and its unfortunate demise.
You should also check out "Animal farm" a political satire about communist Russia and also
"Keep the Apadistra flying" a book about the fultility of trying to survive outside the
