I agree that G O was a very sceptical person, but if you read some of his works relating to the poor and deprived, you will see just how much compassion he has. Also, he maintains a terrific sense of humour despite the hardship and squalor and whilst he may have been disgusted at the treatment of the 'lower classes', he cannot be regarded as evil, just contemptful of those in power, as most of us are, I suppose.
