What do you think the symbolism behind the glass paperweight is? The closest I can get is that the paperweight symbolizes the fragile world that Winston and Julia built up for themselves. It was ironic that teh paperweight smashed at the same time their world fell apart (in the arrest scene). Any other thoughts as to potential symbolism? Mucho gracias.
also... anyone know anything about who might more readily believe that individuality can be destroyed by a political system?
