The story takes right into the world of fantasy. Many of the facts of ordinary life are kept well in the background and even right out of the story. Why did Farmer Jones not send for the Police? How did the animals pay the rates? Why did the county agricultural authorities not step in? In what language did the pigs do bussiness? If the writer is skilful, we easily ignore these questions and they may not even occur to us at all. Orwell told his story with such relish and skill that , as the phrase goes, we willingly suspend disbelief.
