1984 is not a work of propganda becasue it analyzes the idea of freedom,it does not offer to analyze a type of good or bad governmental function. It offers to show that freedom is in the mind of a person not in the structure of a government. Winston was free in the completely opressive world that Big Brother had "convinced" the party members to create. The opression is created in the mind of the opressed and the opressed do not think that they are opressed becasue it is what their mind creates. 1984 is about a cycle of opression that the opressed created and only those who have not created this opression as life in their minds can tell that it is opression. 1984 is a novel on the pyschology of freedom, it does not prove that a certain type of governemnt is bad or good.
