Winston, an adult white male, saw the injustices that he was forced to assimilate into his life until he could do so no longer. He was PC as long as he could stand it, and then rebelled. I think he was confused, angry, felt betrayed, and became indifferent when his life no longer made sense. The scary aspect of all this is the dark forboding of a white male that has lost his faith in a system that no longer represents what he knows to be true, and is torn by conflicting feelings of knowing what's right verses being bombarded by media PC of what he is told is right. People need to reread the story NOT in the concept that it was false prophecy, but that it happened as written, but we, the brainwashed masses, never figured out it really did happen as foretold.
