Hello, I am studying 1984 for a Hsc thing, and the women in 1984 don't seem to play a large role.
I mean they seem equal with the males to an extend. Although Julia is the women who entices winston into a new world
- because of her he thinks he sees the 'golden country'. Women have been taught to dislike sex, but I think that is more a
part of the politics of the party. The Party want to eradicate it because it means people have more feelings towards Big brother
- Katherine shows this, but Julia talks about it. In some ways the women seem a little more clued
in to what is happening - Ha girls win! :) But the women seem to be equal. Sorry if this has nothing to do with what your question
was about
