Hey Wendy!!! What's up??? I'm in the same predicament as you, well, the thing is that my paper is a research paper, and I need to find an opinion many critics agree on, from any particualr topic of the book, and I haven't had much luck, but enough about my problem. Let's talk about yours, shall we??? Well, my personal opinion is that George Orwell wrote 1984 for political purposes, for showing how a negative eutopia (society) can be achieved, and how it can affect one person in particular, which in this case is Winston Smith (the main character). I think the book is written to symbolize what was going on at that time in Europe, including Comunism, and Anarchism. It also includes symbolisms to the Holocaust that was taking place in Germany.....I think all these factors help show why George Orwell wrote 1984. Well Wendy, I hope I could help, good luck..and as for me....I'm going to continue working on my paper.
happy writting!
Later!!!
