I think one aspect discussed in the summary: the world really having a "sameness" where no one is different, is happening now due to the large Global Corporations all merging, and applying their "same" marketing all over the world. For example:
- The merging hotel industry is resulting in fewer "mom and pop" hotels, loss of individuality and character, being replaced by a "known standard of accomodation", or sameness.
- Merging media industries (AOL Time/Warner, Viacom, etc. see http://www.cjr.org/owners/) are resulting in a "sameness" of media entertainment, reporting, and book publishing. Individuality is disappearing.
- Merging retail industries (Philip Morris, Kraft, Nestle, PepsiCo) are resulting in the same brand names and products distributed everywhere.

Some of this may be good, but I think we need to be careful about losing our diversity and individuality (species and culture) as things continue to go Global.
