'An Outpost of Progress' by Conrad
Comment It's probably the best book he ever wrote, being written however early in his career, even before Heart of Darkness was published. I don't know why I picked this one; frankly, it's the first book that came to mind, when thinking of Orwell's themes in his writings, of a bleak outlook of the world.
